Yes, $350k for 600 sq. ft. is hardly what I would deem "affordable" and completely indicative of what Boulder has become. While the city foists the "Affordable Housing" program on builders, which attempts to shoehorn lower middle class buyers into mortgages designed to keep them house poor indefinitely in a misguided effort to keep the city "diverse", the rest of the real estate is priced so far above what the rest of the middle class can afford that they either mortgage themselves to the hilt to live here or are forced to simply look elsewhere. What's gradually happening is the middle class (at least those who want to own a home instead of rent) are being forced out of Boulder proper and all that is left are renters, the lucky lower middle class who managed to snag "affordable housing", and the wealthy (the largest group by far).

I'm not sure exactly what the Boulder city council thinks they are accomplishing, but they are kidding themselves if they think they are keeping Boulder diverse with this scheme. They would be better off junking the affordable housing program altogether, relaxing the draconian regulations on renovations, and letting Boulder officially become what in reality it already is: a wealthy suburb of Denver, chock full of the guilty rich.

I find it interesting that the website for this structure constantly refers to the condos as "affordable"
